SAFFRON & SUNSHINE
Samantha and Vikram came to us with no Pinterest boards and no vision boards, just a few photos from a single wedding they “generally liked.” It was a nearly blank canvas, and we filled it with sunshine. Their May wedding at Brasada Ranch brought together Hindu and Western traditions, so we built a palette that did the same. Strands of saffron marigolds, a flower central to Indian celebrations, wove through coral peonies, golden garden roses, and peach ranunculus. Under the wide-open high desert sky, with the Cascades on the horizon, every color glowed.

“On that nearly blank canvas, Summer created the perfect flower aesthetic for our celebration — one we could not even have begun to imagine independently.” – Samantha
THE CEREMonY
The couple married beneath a wooden mandap on the lawn at Brasada Ranch, with sweeping views of the Cascade Mountains behind them. We draped the structure in strand after strand of marigold garlands, then anchored two corners with lush, asymmetrical clusters of yellow and peach garden roses, coral peonies, carnations, and marigolds. Tall foxtail lilies rose from the ground arrangements at its base, and abundant floral groupings lined the aisle, so guests walked through color on their way to their seats. Bold, celebratory, and full of light, it was exactly what the day called for.
The PErsonals
Samantha carried a loose, garden-style bouquet of coral and pink peonies, orange and peach ranunculus, and delicate pink nerine lilies, with variegated greenery for movement. It was the perfect counterpoint to her shimmering white lehenga. Vikram’s boutonniere echoed her bouquet with a single peach ranunculus and a curl of nerine against his navy sherwani. The couple exchanged traditional jasmine and tuberose varmala garlands during the ceremony, adding a fragrant, timeless layer to the day.
The PARTY
Inside the barn at Brasada Ranch, we took the marigolds skyward. Hundreds of feet of marigold garlands swooped across the soaring ceiling and gathered into a dramatic marigold chandelier above a custom floral dance floor. Over the stone fireplace, a lush mantel installation of peonies and garden roses spilled marigold strands down toward the sweetheart table, which we wrapped in still more garlands and scattered marigold blooms. Low, abundant centerpieces of peonies, garden roses, ranunculus, marigolds, and nerine sat on every table among candlelight, peach linens, and gold flatware. In the late-afternoon sun, the whole room glowed saffron.
