Hi,I'm Summer

A Touch of Burgundy- A Romantic Autumn Wedding

Jan 4, 2019

Happy 2019 EvERyOnE!

I’ve been DYING to post Shelby & Shane’s wedding since the day it happened because it was definitely one of my favorites of 2018.  Let’s just start with this…  Shelby’s hair color was the eXaCT SHaDe of burgundy that we had chosen as their floral accent, and I had no idea about that before I walked into deliver her bouquet on their wedding day.  It was just incredible to see how beautiful her cascading bouquet paired with her gown and how all of the elements we had chosen really complimented how strikingly beautiful she is.

Shelby & Shane’s color palette was burgundy, nude, and white mixed with loads of seasonal green.  She loves all things woodland-inspired including ferns, moss, and vines.  Their main floral moment was their outdoor ceremony which I wanted to feel like a lush rose garden, and when the guests entered into the indoor reception, they were delighted by high and low centerpieces that felt like overgrown gardens of greenery punctuated by a select number of blooms that grew both from the table and were perched atop pedestals surrounded by candlelight.  I chose dahlias, lisianthus, garden roses, roses, spray roses, chocolate cosmos, seed pods, hops, Italian ruscus, smilax vine, nandina,  snowberry, and daucus carota to bring it all to life.

Here is the modular installation that we built for them at their ceremony site, which appeared to organically just be growing in the exact perfect place.  After the ceremony, this was moved inside in each of its’ individual pieces to flank the couple at their sweetheart table and add drama to the room.

Their large overgrown garden centerpieces are some of my favorites that we’ve ever made.  They were each full of enchantment with plenty for the guests to visually discover and explore.

Their wild gestural elevated centerpieces were full of greenery and vines with a shock of burgundy amaranthus, their height worked perfectly with the height of the room.

How romantic to be seated in front of an immense historic fireplace surrounded by a fragrant rose garden as Shelby and Shane enjoyed their guests and their first evening as a married couple at their sweetheart table.

One of my favorite moments of this day, was as we were setting up, watching the Sunriver staff marvel at what we were creating, while some even took photos with their phones.  One of the servers came up to me and told me that in all of the years he had worked in the Great Hall, he had never seen it look so beautiful and that these were his favorite centerpieces because they truly brought the outside inside.  I was so touched and honored to receive such a heartfelt compliment from a man whom I know has seen hundreds of weddings in the space.  And I couldn’t be happier to have had the opportunity to create all of this beauty for such a well deserving couple.
